What we are aiming for
A person looking for a roofer should be able to read these pages and find the phone number on them no matter what device, browser or assistive software they are using. The standard these pages are built against is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.
How the site is put together
- Everything can be reached and operated from a keyboard. The first stop is a link that skips the navigation and lands on the main text, and whichever item has focus is always outlined.
- Headings run in order and each page is divided into labelled regions, which lets screen-reader users move by section.
- Photographs carry a written description of what is in them.
- Text and background shades were measured against the AA contrast thresholds, and nothing on a page depends on telling two colors apart.
- The navigation menu and the expandable answers are built from the browser’s own open-and-close element. No scripts run on these pages, so blocking scripts changes nothing.
- Layout holds together on a screen 320 pixels wide and when text is enlarged to twice its size.
- Each form box has a label that stays on screen, and required boxes say so in words.
- Movement on the page is switched off for visitors whose device requests reduced motion.
When a design decision set appearance against usability, Port Charlotte Roofing chose the version that works with assistive technology.
Where it falls short
Messages sent from the contact page are processed by an outside form service, and the thank-you screen that follows belongs to that service, not to us. Ringing (941) 401-8127 avoids it entirely.
Reporting a problem
If a page here is hard to use with your setup, please telephone (941) 401-8127 and describe what went wrong and which browser or assistive software was involved. We will put it right, and give you whatever you came for by phone in the meantime.
